Chase Adams

Advanced Computer Scientist, Speech Technology and Research Laboratory

Chase Adams, M.A., is a computational linguist in SRI International’s Speech Technology and Research (STAR) Laboratory. His research interests lie at the intersection of data-sparse neural learning and human sound systems/processes, with focus towards speech prosody, paralinguistic acoustic analysis, and neurodegeneration as it impacts speech production.

So far at SRI, Adams has collaborated on expanding the functionality of STAR Lab’s speaker & language identification capabilities and prepared/evaluated data for investigations into speaker diarization, keyword spotting, and optical character recognition. Before joining SRI, he was a research intern with AbbVie’s NLP team focused on semantically correlated knowledge induction from large corpora like PubMed.

Adams continues to work on his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in computational linguistics where he is studying the role of acoustic signals in the characterization of speech from patients suffering from dementia of Alzheimer’s type.
