SRI International (“SRI”, “we”, “us”) is a nonprofit organization that performs research and development activities for a broad range of customers. The Internet sites linking to this Privacy Policy (the “Sites”) are operated and maintained by SRI. SRI is the “controller” and responsible for personal information processed in connection with the use of the Sites.
This Privacy Policy sets out what information that we may collect from you, why and when we process and share that information, and your related rights. By visiting our Sites, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Our Sites are not designed nor intended to attract children under the age of 18. If you are not at least 18-years-old, do not use our Sites. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we learn that personal information of persons less than 13 years-of-age has been inadvertently collected through our Sites, we will take the appropriate steps to delete this information.

How SRI collects information about you
Personal Information will be collected through information that you knowingly provide to us by filling in the forms on our Sites or when you otherwise interact with us. This Personal Information may include any information you provide at the time of registering on our Sites, subscribing to our newsletters, posting materials, downloading software or data, or requesting further information. Personal Information is transferred securely via HTTPS (secure HTTP) protocol and may be transferred internationally for processing and storage. Personal Information includes any Usage Information and User Contributions to the extent such information can be used to identify you either directly or when combined with the Personal Information you provide to us.

SRI will only collect, use, and share Personal Information, Usage Information, and User Contributions under certain circumstances.

SRI has established and maintains reasonable procedures to protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of Personal Information and Usage Information collected through our Sites. SRI will not sell or rent your Personal Information to anyone.
Data retention of e-mail addresses collected for marketing purposes is based on recency of the last open or click-through. Recipients who have not opened or clicked-through an e-mail from SRI within 18 months will be removed from our database.
Sharing information about you
There are circumstances where we wish to disclose or are compelled to disclose your Personal Information. This will only take place in accordance with applicable law and for the purposes listed above.
SRI may disclose your Personal Information:
- within SRI to provide you with requested services and/or products or to comply with applicable laws

If you use any of our scientific databases (e.g. BioCyc, MetaCyc, EcoCyc, and HumanCyc) or related software (e.g. Pathway Tools), please note that from time to time the U.S. Government may request, and SRI may disclose, personal data pertaining to your use of SRI’s scientific databases and software, which may include any data you provide us such as your contact information, institution name, and website activity. SRI operates and maintains such databases with funding by the U.S. Government, particularly the National Institutes of Health. For more information about disclosures related to such databases, please refer to the applicable terms and conditions that a user must review and accept in order to download information.
Cookie usage, including how SRI collects information for remarketing with Google
Cookies are small files containing a string of characters that we may store on your computer or mobile device when you visit our Sites to improve your online experience. When you visit our Sites again, the cookies allow SRI to recognize your browser. Cookies may store your preferences and other information but cannot read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites.

SRI advertises with Google Remarketing, which displays ads across the Web to users who may have visited our Sites in the past or have shown interest in specific products or information within our Sites.

SRI is headquartered in the United States. Information you provide will be stored on our servers located in the United States.
