Hannah Cheever conducts research and provides technical assistance for projects across several content areas and policy contexts. She is an experienced project manager, known for creating systems to ensure high-quality, timely, and relevant services that meet client and interest-holder needs.

At SRI, Cheever’s current portfolio includes projects focused on college and career readiness and building student resilience. She serves as the center manager for the Postsecondary Teaching with Technology Collaborative, leading operational and strategic management activities. She co-leads the development of an instructional model to support the development of self-directed learning skills in students in online college STEM courses. She also supports national capacity- and leadership-building activities, building awareness of and promoting engagement in the Collaborative’s projects through strategic dissemination. Additionally, Cheever plays critical roles in SRI’s portfolio of Handle With Care (HWC) projects, leading efforts to build educators’ capacity to support students experiencing trauma. She also serves as co-deputy director of a project in a large southern urban district.

Cheever previously served as the partnership lead for the Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Appalachia and led two partnerships. In this role, she led project teams’ ongoing needs-sensing activities, logic model development and refinement, and ongoing formative feedback data collections and analyses, all to inform the development and implementation of activities to address state and local partners’ needs. As deputy partnership lead for the Trauma-Informed Schools partnership in Kentucky, she designed partnership activities, including training and coaching sessions, and developed materials aligned to partner needs. Cheever also served as lead for the Developing Resilient and Supportive Community Colleges partnership with Virginia Community College System (VCCS), working closely with partners to develop resources to promote trauma-sensitive practices throughout VCCS.

Prior to joining SRI, Cheever worked as a policy analyst at the National Center for Education and the Economy, a data coordinator for Urban Teachers, and a middle school teacher in Prince George’s County Public Schools in Maryland.
