William D. Brubaker

Research Scientist, Rogers Laboratory, Center for Neuroscience

William Brubaker, Ph.D., is investigating the mechanisms and clinical relevance of beta-amyloid clearance by the peripheral circulatory system, especially as it relates to oligomeric, protofibrillar and fibrillar aggregates of beta-amyloid. He is also involved in collaborations with other SRI investigators in the Cancer Immunology, Discovery Technologies and Medicinal Chemistry research groups. His primary research interests are protein structural biophysics, macromolecular engineering and synthetic biology.

Prior to joining SRI, Brubaker worked in the laboratory of Professor Jeffrey Jenkins at Oregon State University, where he developed biosensor technology for the detection of pesticides in collaboration with a local small business.

Brubaker received a B.S. in biomedical engineering from the University of California, Davis. His Ph.D. is in molecular biology and biochemistry from the University of California, Irvine, where his graduate work focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms of cataract formation using liquid- and solid-state NMR spectroscopy.
