Abstract

Most current approaches to qualitative reasoning and model-based diagnosis address one particular aspect of the overall task, ignoring many of the others. For example, some researchers focus only on continuous variables and their qualitative derivatives, intermittent faults, or abstraction. In this paper we propose a first step towards developing a more integrated multi-faceted approach to qualitative model-based reasoning. In particular we intend to reason about the system much more like a technician or engineer.
