Historical insights into sleep research. Colrain, I.M. Sleep Medicine , Volume 11 , Issue 4 , 341 – 342

Abstract

History is important in science. A quote attributed to the first century C.E. Roman historian Tacitus describes the principal office of history: “to prevent virtuous actions from being forgotten, and that evil words and deeds should fear an infamous reputation with posterity”. The article in the present issue by Basner [1] helps to ensure the “virtuous actions” and careful insightful science of Ernst Otto Heinrich Kohlschütter will not be forgotten.
