Daniel Keyes

Physician Investigator, Clinical Development

Daniel Keyes, MD, MPH, FACP, FACEP serves as an investigator, clinical scientist, and expert in emergency medicine and toxicology.  He collaborates with the team in the development and execution of clinical protocols, provides support to protect subject safety, and participates in meetings with various stakeholders in drug development.

Prior to joining SRI, he served as associate professor and chief of the Section of Toxicology and medical director of the North Texas Poison Center at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. After completing an international sabbatical and engaging as a faculty Fulbright Scholar, he came to Michigan to serve as associate chair for academic affairs for emergency medicine at institutions in Ann Arbor and Livonia, MI.

Keyes has extensive experience with investigator-initiated clinical research, and has served as an educator for physicians, advanced care practitioners, and students to aid in developing scholarly research and educational projects. He has also served as a member of an institutional review board (IRB).

He has authored and co-authored numerous publications in the fields of medical toxicology, venous thromboembolism (VTE), senior health care, and related fields. He served as editor-in-chief for the book Medical Response to Terrorism: Preparedness and Clinical Practice (Lippincott).

Keyes graduated from the UCLA School of Medicine (MD) and completed a Masters in Public Health (MPH) at Harvard University. He is board certified in internal medicine, emergency medicine, and medical toxicology.
