Air combat training

SRI researcher John McHenry entering a Navy F4 fighter plane, circa 1970

SRI was part of the government/industry team that designed and fielded the first instrumented training system for pilots to include maneuvering and engagements in a live environment. SRI supported the system’s expansion over the next 30 years into other combat missions and military service branches.

Today, SRI’s solutions for safeguarding our nation range from instrumented combat training for the National Guard to cyber security, threat detection, and persistent surveillance technologies.
