The Effect of Solar Flares, Coronal Mass Ejections, and Solar Wind Streams on Venus’ 5577 Angstrom Oxygen Green Line

SRI International

We observed the Venusian 5577.3 Å OI nightglow emission feature after solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and solar wind streams from December 2010 to July 2012 using the high resolution Astrophysical Research Consortium Echelle Spectrograph.

Estimating the Vector Electric Field Using Monostatic, Multibeam Incoherent Scatter Radar Measurements

SRI International

An algorithm has been developed to image the local structure in the convection electric field using multibeam incoherent scatter radar (ISR) data.

Radar Detectability Studies of Slow and Small Zodiacal Dust Cloud Particles. I. The Case of Arecibo 430 MHz Meteor Head Echo Observations

SRI International

In this paper, we present a new methodology utilizing meteor head echo radar observations that aims to constrain the ZDC physical model by ground-based measurements.

Heating of the Sunlit Polar Cap Ionosphere by Reflected Photoelectrons

SRI International

Using a 1-D ionosphere-polar wind model and measurements from the Resolute Bay Incoherent Scatter Radar (RISR-N), this paper shows that these reflected photoelectrons are a significant source of heat for the sunlit polar cap ionosphere.

Solar Cycle Variation of Plasma Mass Density in the Outer Magnetosphere: Magnetoseismic Analysis of Toroidal Standing Alfven Waves Detected by Geotail

SRI International

We study the variation of plasma mass density in the outer magnetosphere over a solar cycle using mass density estimated from the frequency of fundamental toroidal standing Alfvén waves observed by the Geotail spacecraft.

First Estimates of Global Free-Tropospheric NO2 Abundances Derived Using a Cloud-Slicing Technique Applied to Satellite Observations from the Aura Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI)

SRI International

We derive free-tropospheric NO2 volume mixing ratios (VMRs) by applying a cloud-slicing technique to data from the Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) on the Aura satellite.

Diagnostics of an Artificial Relativistic Electron Beam Interacting with the Atmosphere

SRI International

We use a Monte Carlo model to simulate the interaction of a beam of relativistic electrons with the upper atmosphere as they are injected downward from a notional high-altitude injection platform.

On the Generation/Decay of the Storm-Enhanced Density Plumes: Role of the Convection Flow and Field-Aligned Ion Flow

SRI International

We present observations of SED plumes during six storms between 2010 and 2013 and comprehensively analyze the associated ionospheric parameters within the plumes.

Imaging Activity in Integrated Circuits

SRI International

In this paper, we introduce a method for localizing activity in integrated circuits (IC) using a laser scanning microscope.
