Shantanu Rane manages the Cyber-Physical Systems research area at SRI’s Future Concepts Division. His research background is in applied cryptography, statistics, and signal processing. He works on fundamental and applied problems in security, privacy, machine learning and dynamical systems.
Shantanu earned a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Stanford University, California in 2007, a Masters in electrical engineering from The University of Minnesota, Minneapolis in 2001.
He has served as an associate editor for the IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security, the IEEE Signal Processing Magazine and the IEEE Signal Processing Letters. He has also participated in standardization activity for ITU-T/MPEG H.264/AVC video compression standard, and the ISO/IEC JTC1 SC37 Subcommittee on Biometrics.
