Quantum technologies are rapidly advancing toward real-world applications across computing, sensing, communications, and cybersecurity. As the sector scales, success depends on more than breakthrough science — it requires robust supply chains, reliable manufacturing, and a qualified workforce. The quantum industry doesn’t need to start from scratch: It can leverage deep existing capabilities in semiconductors, photonics, lasers, and electronics to accelerate the transition from lab to market.
This PARC Forum is bringing together organizations with distinct but interlocking roles spanning the quantum value chain — from fundamental science to industrial manufacturing.
GlobalFoundries (GF) is where quantum enters the world at scale. GF serves as the critical manufacturing backbone for companies building quantum systems, producing quantum chips using proven semiconductor infrastructure that no startup can replicate on its own.
QED-C — the Quantum Economic Development Consortium, managed by SRI, translates standards into industry roadmaps, coordinates more than 300 member companies, and identifies and aims to close workforce and supply chain gaps.
