SRI’s cooling solution garners media attention and commercial interest.
Keeping homes and industrial facilities cool is an expensive, energy-intensive proposition.
SRI’s Self-Cooling PaintTM seeks to make a dent in cooling costs and carbon footprints alike.
As Paint & Coatings Industry recently reported, SRI’s Self-Cooling Paint “passively reflects solar radiation and emits heat back into space — reducing surface temperatures without consuming energy or relying on traditional cooling systems.”
Internal testing by SRI has demonstrated that a surface treated with Self-Cooling Paint is 10-15 ºC (18-25 ºF) cooler than an adjacent uncoated surface. Furthermore, Self-Cooling Paint has a higher initial Solar Reflective Index than any commercial product listed by the Cool Roof Rating Council.
The paint’s stellar performance, Paint & Coatings Industry points out, is catalyzing significant interest from industry: “SRI has entered a licensing agreement with a commercialization partner to bring the product to market and is currently exploring additional partnership opportunities for application-specific deployments.”
