NASA Europa Clipper

Jupiter

Launched in 2024, NASA’s Europa Clipper spacecraft is expected to arrive at Europa (a moon of Jupiter) in 2030.

The two cameras in the Europa Clipper’s Europa Imaging Systems (EIS) rely on an eight-megapixel sensor designed at SRI’s Center for Advanced Imaging.

The EIS will allow scientists to map Europa’s surface at high resolution and, perhaps, determine if there are places under Europa’s surface that could support life.
