Lucien Randazzese

Director, Center for Innovation Strategy and Policy

Lucien Randazzese, Ph.D., has twenty years of post-doctoral experience in science & technology (S&T) policy, economics and innovation research, and business planning and strategy. His work has included a broad range of projects for the commercial, government, and academic sectors, for clients in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

Randazzese’s work focuses on helping organizations improve investments and governance related to science and technology. During his tenure at SRI he has led project teams to developed regional research strategies; create national science, technology, and innovation (STI) policies and programs; prepare and assess business plans for multiple entities; and apply advanced text analytics and machine learning to understanding the technology development process.

Prior to joining SRI, Randazzese worked in strategic management consulting, working primarily in sectors undergoing rapid technological change, including telecommunications, energy, media, cybersecurity, software, and financial services. Prior to his consulting career, he served as a research fellow at Harvard University.

Randazzese received a doctorate degree in engineering and public policy from Carnegie Mellon University, where his thesis won the Herbert A. Simon Doctoral Dissertation Award in Behavioral Research. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in microelectronic engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology and began his career as a semiconductor engineer at IBM.
