Recognizing Activities Via Bag of Words for Attribute Dynamics
In this work, we propose a novel video representation for activity recognition that models video dynamics with attributes of activities. A video sequence is decomposed into short-term segments, which are characterized by the dynamics of their attributes.

Automated Reasoning, Fast and Slow
We present some tentative and preliminary speculation on the prospects for automated reasoning in the style of System 1, and the synergy with the more traditional System 2 strand of work.

Field-Aligned Current Reconfiguration and Magnetospheric Response to an Impulse in the Interplanetary Magnetic Field by Component
In this study, we analyze an interval on 5 April 2010 where there was a strong dawnward impulse in the IMF, followed by a gradual decay in IMF magnitude at constant clock angle.

Designing Bifunctional Nop Receptor-Mu Opioid Receptor Ligands from Nop Receptor-Selective Scaffolds. Part I
We report here our forays into the structure–activity relationships for discovering ‘bifunctional’ NOP–mu opioid receptor (MOP) ligands, starting from our NOP-selective scaffolds.

Localization of Auroral Langmuir Turbulence in Thin Layers
The recently discovered coherent echoes in the Poker Flat Incoherent Scatter Radar data with flat ion-line spectrum and simultaneous double-peaked plasma-line spectrum in the lower ionospheric F region are investigated in greater detail.

Next Generation Preschool Math Demo: Tablet Games for Preschool Classrooms
This paper describes the Next Generation Preschool Math project, a $3 million, four-year research and development initiative funded by the National Science Foundation.

Investigating Hydrophobic Ligand-Receptor Interactions in Parathyroid Hormone Receptor Using Peptide Probes
On the basis of a peptide reported in the literature, referred to here as the Parent Peptide, we conducted systematic SAR analyses to investigate the effects of altering peptide hydrophobicity on PTH receptor functional potency as measured by the cAMP (cyclic adenosine monophosphate) accumulation and β-arrestin recruitment assays.

Designing Early Childhood Math Games: A Research-Driven Approach
This paper describes the iterative research and development process used by the Next Generation Preschool Math project, which integrates content analysis, logic model processes, and iterative design and research approaches.

Evidence for Deposition of 10 Million Tonnes of Impact Spherules across Four Continents 12,800 Y Ago
We present results from one of the largest spherule investigations ever undertaken regarding spherule geochemistry, morphologies, origins, and processes of formation.

Parathyroid Hormone (PTH) and PTH-Related Peptide Domains Contributing to Activation of Different PTH Receptor-Mediated Signaling Pathways
In the present investigation, a collection of PTH(1-34) and PTHrP(1-34) peptide analogs were evaluated in orthogonal human PTH1R (hPTH1R) functional assays capturing Gs- and Gq-signaling, β-arrestin recruitment, ERK1/2 phosphorylation, and receptor internalization to further define the patterns of PTH1R signaling that they stimulate and further establish peptide domains contributing to agonist activity.

US Innovation Strategy and Policy: An Indicators Perspective
This chapter first describes and assesses US innovation strategy and policy, considering both their implicit and explicit characteristics. It then turns to a discussion of the state of innovation indicators research and analysis in the United States.
