Selective encryption

Working with DARPA, SRI developed new technologies to harden security and privacy for information used in collaborative digital environments. SRI’s work focused on selective encryption, which allows organizations to enable permission-based controls for sensitive information within individual files, balancing the dual imperatives of privacy and collaborative data sharing common to all large private and government organizations.

SRI leveraged its patented selective encryption technology to spin out Confidencial, a startup that broke new ground in helping industry and government clients secure highly sensitive data.
