Data Analyst, SRI Education
Catherine Yohe Hall specializes in the design and programming of complex customized data collection systems in various platforms, most frequently Excel. These systems streamline the collection of data, minimize user effort and manipulation, and provide real-time guidance and error-checking feedback. Each unique system displays analyzed results to user specifications – sometimes single level data visualizations for just one workbook, other times meta-analyses merging multiple workbooks. These systems have been used in statewide data collections, topic-specific programs across many states, and federal reporting.
In addition to the creation of these complex Excel systems, Hall also consults with programmes to provide technical guidance in data collection, programming, and analysis of online surveys. She has also built databases to facilitate the entry and coding of qualitative data.
At SRI, Hall has brought her data collection and management expertise to various projects. For example, she is creating a multi-level collection system for program and staff improvement for early childhood intervention professionals in Hawaii. The data collected helps inform the care-provider with immediate feedback and tracks progress longitudinally for the provider’s mentor to review. Periodically, these collection tools are merged into a program-level database the provides an overview of successful program areas and those that need more training/guidance. Another recent build was the data collection system for the Handle With Care project piloted in West Virginia with the REL Appalachia project. The Handle With Care data collection tool protects student anonymity while providing teachers with information needed to care for the most vulnerable students. The collection tool is used at the school level to improve communication among and training of staff. Before joining SRI, Hall taught mathematics for 3 years at Williamsburg Middle School in Arlington, Virginia. She holds an MEd from Marymount University and a BA in mathematics and Spanish from the College of William and Mary.
