Charles Karney focuses on modeling and robotic systems. His current work involves the development of tools to process imagery and LIDAR data to create terrain models.
Prior to joining SRI in 2000, Karney was a member of the Theory Division at the Plasma Physics Laboratory, Princeton University, with a joint appointment in the Department of Astrophysical Sciences. He is a fellow of the American Physical Society.
Karney has a B.A. degree from Cambridge University and a Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). A list of his publications is available at Google Scholar. Preprints of several of Karney’s papers are available at arXiv.org.
