Gabriel Iftime

Associate Director, Hardware Technology & Research lab

Gabriel Iftime is leading the Materials Interfaces and Processes area focused on novel materials chemistry and engineering-driven innovations in green and sustainable technologies. When working at PARC, Gabriel initiated, contributed and/or led as a PI multidisciplinary teams delivering projects in areas including controlled architected polymers applied to insulating materials, CO2 capture, sensors for detection of toxic industrial gases, and THC testing; CFRP for vehicle lightweighting, hydrogen storage; materials for electrochemical devices such as fuel cells; 3D printing; high performance polymer composites; ceramic matrix composites; nanoparticle-enabled sensors.

Previously, Gabriel was a Senior Research Scientist at the Xerox Research Center of Canada where he developed smart materials applied to reusable paper, security printing and novel marking materials for Xerox Corp. Gabriel earned his PhD from the Université Paris XI in organometallic and asymmetric synthesis, and his B.Sc/M.Sc. from the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest in Industrial Chemistry.

Gabriel is an inventor of 200+ granted US patents and has authored 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals.
