Abstract

In the quest to find new applications for flexible electronics, a novel louver-type display concept is being proposed. The flexible display backplane extends as continuous sheet over several louver panels, carrying an active-matrix (or passive-matrix) circuit in the region of each panel. Since only one set of column diver chips is required, the display assembly is simpler and less expensive. Small-scale prototypes of the louver-display concept have been fabricated.
