Abstract

Metabolic databases are a new type of bioinformatics resource with a wide variety of potential uses in academia and in industry. These databases serve as online reference sources that make biochemical information readily accessible via the Internet. This article will describe some of the uses of these databases and then provide descriptions of the metabolic databases available.
