In 2021, inspired by the opportunity to deeply connect Japan with Silicon Valley through innovation, SRl and Nomura Holdings converged to establish the Nomura–SRI Innovation Center.

Innovation Deep Dive Program
Location: Nomura-SRI Innovation Center, Menlo Park, CA

Begin your innovation journey in the heart of Silicon Valley. This five-day intensive program places you in a fast-paced environment to gain technology and innovation insights through exposure to key Silicon Valley thought leaders and exclusive contact with SRI labs and researchers. The program will feature a range of lectures, interactive sessions, and workshops as you are welcomed into the NSIC open innovation community.
Objectives:
- Become familiar with emerging technologies and evaluate their relevance for your business
- Learn and begin using the basic tools of innovation and intrapreneurship — including identifying needs and signals from the market, defining opportunities, designing solutions, and pitching ideas
- Get exposed to the cultural norms of Silicon Valley and learn how to use them to your company’s advantage
- Learn how the startup ecosystem supports startup formation and growth by engaging with talent and funding sources
Bootcamp Program

Equip yourself with innovation’s essential toolkit through our transformative, eight-week Bootcamp Program. The program features a range of interactive sessions, workshops, and lectures that teach the key tools of innovation and intrapreneurship. The Bootcamp Program leverages a series of powerful project-based learning experiences. You’ll be guided by NSIC staff through projects to build design thinking and innovation toolkits with increasingly challenging topics.
Objectives:
- Learn and begin using the basic tools of innovation and intrapreneurship — including identifying needs and signals from the market, defining opportunities, designing solutions, and pitching ideas
- Practice design thinking and innovation tools on an NSIC-directed project with real-world challenges, user research, and technology assessments
- Become familiar with emerging technologies and evaluate their relevance for your business
- Get exposed to the cultural norms of Silicon Valley and learn how to use them to your company’s advantage
- Learn how the startup ecosystem supports startup formation and growth by engaging with talent and funding sources
Silicon Valley Innovation Program
Location: Nomura-SRI Innovation Center, Menlo Park, CA

Embark on a multi-year quest to build your skills as an innovator. This program provides the environment, tools, and coaching to enable you to achieve meaningful innovation outcomes and spark your intrapreneurial spirit to drive innovation within the context of your corporate structure. Through company-focused, real-world projects, you will learn and apply techniques for stimulating creative ideas and use tools to frame, pitch, and experiment on innovations aligned with your existing corporate strategies.
The first year is divided into four phases: Bootcamp, Explore, Experiment, and Activate. The curriculum in each phase consists of workshops and lectures centered around four focus areas: Innovation, Technology, Silicon Valley Immersion, and Startups.
During the first year of the program, you will complete an innovation project that focuses on your company’s needs. The curriculum supports this project work through frequent coaching sessions and SRI researcher guidance, which extends throughout the entire program. These sessions will guide your project from conception to activation.
The program begins with guided instruction through presentations and structured lessons to help you learn about the unique innovation culture of Silicon Valley and place that in a corporate context to be successful during your time here. You will build a foundation of tools and a common language around innovation and intrapreneurship. As the program progresses, you will take on more responsibility for self-guided learning and applying these concepts to your organization.
