Rutgers students take an insider tour of SRI’s Princeton campus

Undergraduate researchers got hands-on demos of healthcare task guidance and night-vision imaging tech.

Students from Rutgers–New Brunswick’s CSI SURF program toured SRI’s Princeton labs, meeting with principal investigators behind research developed in partnership with academic institutions — including Mayo Clinic, University of Florida, Stanford, USC, and University College London — and government agencies.

  1. Multi-Tags: AI-guided medical procedure task guidance that uses vision sensors to support clinicians in real time, funded by Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H).
  2. DomiNite: next-generation night-vision camera roughly half the size of a thumb.

Lab demonstrations highlighted:

One of the highlights of the visit was a live demo of SRI’s intelligent task guidance system (Multi-Tags), developed under the Platform Accelerating Rural Access to Distributed and Integrated Medical Care (PARADIGM) program. The system helps upskill healthcare providers by guiding them through a variety of clinical procedures to scale access to high-quality medical care in rural and underserved communities.

“This allowed students to connect what they’re learning with real-world research that is being funded today,” said Jason Tyan, program director at SRI’s Center for Vision Technologies.
