SRI’s President of Commercialization shares how incredible it is to consider the ways the projects at SRI are truly making a difference.
The most exciting part of my job is that I learn almost every day about the things that are going on in different parts of SRI. There have been several moments over the last year where I’ve been able to take a step back and say, “wow, this is cool.”
I don’t even have to go that far back. Earlier this week, we were talking with the president of the Biosciences division, and she was sharing details about how we’ve discovered a new pathway to treat cancer.
Last week, I was talking to some folks in our Computer Science division about cutting-edge work we’ve been doing in generative AI and leveraging the application of large language models in different use cases and coupling that with other capabilities.
There are always technologies that SRI is developing that are very unique in collaborating with machines in ways that one might not intuitively think possible.
It really kind of opens your mind to where we could be going in terms of taking advantage of these technologies and human-machine collaboration, taking it to the next level, and collectively solving problems that individuals or machines would be challenged to solve.
I could keep going, but every one of these interactions is due to the nature of the work we do here. Because of my unique vantage point in commercialization, I’m looking to move these technologies out of the lab to make impact.
There is a lot of opportunity for learning and creative problem solving.
