Carbohydrate Antigen Microarrays
This chapter describes one of my laboratory’s working protocols for carbohydrate-based microarrays.

Exact lifted inference with distinct soft evidence on every object
We show that both exact maximum a posteriori (MAP) and marginal inference can be lifted for the case of distinct soft evidence on a unary Markov Logic predicate.

Transcriptional Regulation of Gene Expression During Osmotic Stress Responses by the Mammalian Target of Rapamycin
We have approached this question by analyzing the effect of mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), a central growth controller, on the osmotic stress response.

Evaluation of the California Linked Learning District Initiative: Year-Two Report, Executive Summary
Two years into an initiative designed to embed and test this approach within nine California school districts, the evaluation findings reveal signs of progress…

Bag-of-Audio-Words Approach for Multimedia Event Classification
We explore variations of the BoAW method and present results on NIST 2011 multimedia event detection (MED) dataset.

Multiple biomarker expression on circulating tumor cells in comparison to tumor tissues from primary and metastatic sites in patients with locally advanced/inflammatory, and stage IV breast cancer, using a novel detection technology
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are considered the seeds of residual disease and distant metastases and their characterization could help guide treatment selection.

Minimizing modes for smart selection in sketching/drawing interfaces
This chapter reviews our research in approaches to avoiding prior deliberate mode setting while still allowing overloading of fundamental tap and gesture operations.

Rethinking how projects are managed: meeting communication across the organizational hierarchy
This chapter examines one aspect of how software system development projects of various kinds are managed in a large IT company: meeting communication between project managers and senior managers.

Interactions at a reprographics store
This chapter describes a three-year ethnographic study of a reprographics store that was conducted with the goal of improving customer service.

An efficient computational architecture for a collision early-warning system for vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists
In this paper, we propose a two-stage collision risk assessment process, including the following: 1) a preliminary assessment via simple efficient geometric computations, which thoroughly considers surrounding principals and identifies likely potential accidents, and 2) a specialized assessment that computes more accurate collision probabilities via sophisticated statistical inference.

Materials, processing, and testing of flexible image sensor arrays
An overview of the requirements for flexible image sensor arrays is given.
