SRI spinout Autonomique brings lab research to the factory floor

Licensed teleoperation and AI are driving production-grade robotics at a global Tier 1 automotive supplier
Autonomique has successfully moved its AI-powered robots from pilot to full production deployment at F&P Manufacturing, a Canadian Tier 1 automotive supplier, with plans to expand across F.tech’s global network.
Technologies licensed from SRI include our teleoperation system, originally developed for U.S. Army bomb disposal and used by pharmaceutical companies in cleanroom environments. Autonomique has built upon this foundation to collect control data and train AI models, complemented by a generalized spatial understanding and reasoning engine that enables robots to perceive and reason about their environment.
Autonomique’s “generalist-specialist” AI architecture, which dynamically selects the right technique for each task, whether reinforcement learning or a vision-language-action model, delivers the adaptability and precision demanded in manufacturing environments.

Luis Mideros, GM at F&P commented, “We evaluated numerous robotics solutions, and Autonomique stood out for delivering both the flexibility of a generalist system and the precision our lines demand.”
The pilot at F&P involved a bi-manual wheeled robot performing assembly tasks in a just-in-time manufacturing environment, with Autonomique projecting ROI in 18 months versus the industry-typical 24–36 months.
This is the kind of technology transfer SRI was built for, moving breakthrough research off the lab bench and into the world where it solves real problems at scale.
