Abstract

The diversity of mobility service offerings and population travel needs presents a challenge for creating interfaces that help people make informed transportation decisions. In this work, we present a theory driven approach that combines transportation research and psychological research of personality, responsibility, and influence to understand the scope of the personalization problem for trip planning. We report results from qualitative analysis of 20 user interviews to uncover gaps in current understanding of trip planning. Finally, we identify travel personalization factors using a survey study with 235 participants.
