Increased CCL2 Expression and Macrophage/Monocyte Migration During Microbicide-Induced Vaginal Irritation
We studied several immunological parameters as potential biomarkers of vaginal irritation, using the spermicides nonoxynol-9 and benzalkonium chloride as test microbicides.

Software Verification and System Assurance
We review this idea and show how it provides a bridge between correctness, which is the goal of software verification (and especially formal verification), and the probabilistic properties such as reliability that are the targets for system-level assurance.

A Phase I Study of the Nitroimidazole Hypoxia Marker SR4554 Using 19 F Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy
In this study we investigated higher doses of SR4554 and intratumoral localisation of the 19F MRS signal.

Bright Lights, Clearly Visible in the Healthcare R&D Tunnel, Could Burn Out for Lack of Funds
The promise of continued healthcare innovation is increasingly threatened by inadequate funding of R&D at many levels: in academic and nonprofit organizations, in small business ventures, and even in large pharmaceutical companies. We simply cannot afford to miss the enormous opportunities now coming into focus.

Bringing Out The Playful Side Of Mathematics: Using Methods From Improvisational Theater In Professional Development For Urban Middle School Math Teachers
Many urban districts are underfunded, are low performing by current measures, and serve a high number of students who have special challenges of language, poverty, and cultural differences.

Thermochemistry of Gaseous Ammonium Nitrate, NH4NO3(g)
From the measured molecular weight of vapor over NH4NO3(c) by the simultaneous torsion-effusion/mass loss method, the partial pressure of NH4NO3(g) was evaluated over the range 321−360 K; in addition, the presence of the gaseous nitrate was verified by effusion-beam mass spectrometry.

Double Dissociation Between Action-Driven and Perception-Driven Conflict Resolution Invoking Anterior Versus Posterior Brain Systems
We manipulated perceptual information that either matched or did not match the relevant color feature of an upcoming Stroop stimulus and recorded hemodynamic brain responses to these events.

A Genome-Wide Association Study of Lung Cancer Identifies a Region of Chromosome 5P15 Associated with Risk for Adenocarcinoma
We conducted a GWAS of lung cancer and its major histologic types, genotyping 515,922 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 5739 lung cancer cases and 5848 controls from one population-based case-control study and three cohort studies.

Alpha-Synuclein-Glucocerebrosidase Interactions in Pharmacological Gaucher Models: a Biological Link Between Gaucher Disease and Parkinsonism
The aim of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between alpha-synuclein (α-syn), a key protein in Parkinson’s disease pathogenesis, and abnormalities in glucocerebroside (GC) catabolism that lead to the development of Gaucher disease.

Securing network content
We propose a more scalable model wherein content itself is secured, rather than the connections over which it travels.

Amorphous silicon thin film transistor image sensors
In this paper, we describe some developments of the TFT technology for high performance detectors and flexible image sensors that have occurred in recent years.
