Test-Retest Reliability of Web-Based Retrospective Self-Report of Tobacco Exposure and Risk
The goal of this study was to examine the reliability of self-report of a specific health-affecting behavior, tobacco use, and its associated risk and protective factors as examined with a Web-based questionnaire.

Effect of Various Coal Contaminants on the Performance of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells: Part II. Ppm and Sub-Ppm Level Testing
The poisoning effects of various trace contaminants in the coal-derived syngas stream at ppm and sub-ppm level on the performance of Ni-YSZ/YSZ/LSM solid oxide fuel cells were studied at extended duration.

Cavity Expansion Experiments with Spherical Explosive Charges in Concrete
Three experiments were conducted with 1-lb explosive spheres embedded in large concrete cylinders with flatpack stress gages and Dremin loop velocity gages surrounding the charge.

Does Session Variability Compensation in Speaker Recognition Model Intrinsic Variation Under Mismatched Conditions?
We find that ISV compensation is remarkably successful on a corpus of intrinsic variation that is highly controlled for channel (a dominant component of ISV). The results are particularly surprising because the ISV training data come from a different corpus than do speaker train and test data.

Nonprofit Organizations and Pharmaceutical Research and Development
To provide a perspective on NPO business models, 10 SRI case studies are summarized herein, including basic and contract research, discovery of new drugs and biologics, pharmaceutical and biotech R&D services, technology pivots, company spin-ins and spin-outs, and the creation of new NPOs.

Ultra-Low-Power Electronics for Non-Invasive Medical Monitoring
We focus on the monitoring of the heart and describe a micropower electrocardiograph, an ultra-low-power pulse oximeter, an ultra-low-power phonocardiograph, an integrated-circuit switched-capacitor model of the heart, and a low-power RF-antenna-powered CMOS rectifier for energy harvesting.

First Observations of Large-Scale Wave Structure and Equatorial Spread F Using Certo Radio Beaconon the C/NOFS Satellite
First observations of large-scale wave structure and the subsequent development of equatorial spread F, using total electron content derived from the ground based reception of beacon signals from the CERTO radio beacon on board C/NOFS satellite, are presented.

From 3D space to third place: the social life of small virtual spaces
Through our virtual ethnography of dance clubs and corner bars in three MMO environments, we find four features of virtual public spaces that appear critical for their success: accessibility, social density, activity resources, and hosts.

Spectrum fusion: using multiple mass spectra for de novo peptide sequencing
We report on a new algorithm for combining the information from several mass spectra of the same peptide.

Natural and implicit interaction systems
The notion that humans move purposefully to obtain information provides a guiding framework to interpret natural body movements and gestures as implicit cues.

An Unfinished Canvas: Fact Sheet
An Unfinished Canvas revealed that an overwhelming majority of California schools fail to meet these guidelines and that key barriers include inadequate and unstable funding, insufficient instructional time, and limited teacher capacity.
