Comparison of the Neutral Wind Seasonal Variation from Midlatitude Conjugate Observations
The seasonal variation of F region neutral wind from the midlatitude conjugate Fabry-Perot interferometer observations has been studied.

Maternal Nutrition at Conception Modulates DNA Methylation of Human Metastable Epialleles
We show that significant seasonal variations in methyl-donor nutrient intake of mothers around the time of conception influence 13 relevant plasma biomarkers. Our results demonstrate that maternal nutritional status during early pregnancy causes persistent and systemic epigenetic changes at human metastable epialleles.

Auroral Ionospheric F Region Density Cavity Formation and Evolution: Mica Campaign Results
Auroral ionospheric F region density depletions observed by PFISR (Poker Flat Incoherent Scatter Radar) during the MICA (Magnetosphere-Ionosphere Coupling in the Alfvén Resonator) sounding rocket campaign are critically examined alongside complementary numerical simulations.

Experimental Demonstration of a Broadband All-Dielectric Metamaterial Perfect Reflector
Here we present the demonstration of a single-negative all-dielectric metamaterial that possesses peak reflectance over 99% and an average reflectance over 98% across a 200 nm wide bandwidth in the short-wavelength infrared region.

No Association between Germline Variation in Catechol-O-Methyltransferase and Colorectal Cancer Survival in Postmenopausal Women
Because catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT; 22q11.21) activity is an important component of estrogen-mediated carcinogenesis, we hypothesized that germline variation in COMT may be associated with CRC survival.

Sudemycin E Influences Alternative Splicing and Changes Chromatin Modifications
To determine the effect on gene expression, we performed genome-wide array analysis. Sudemycin E first causes a rapid change in alternative pre-messenger RNA splicing, which is later followed by changes in overall gene expression and arrest in the G2 phase of the cell cycle.

Advice for Mathematical Argumentation
“Telling” can be an effective tool in helping students engage in intellectually demanding argumentation and productive behavior.

Generalized Effective-Medium Theory for Metamaterials
We present an effective-medium model for calculating the frequency-dependent effective permittivity ε(ω) and permeability μ(ω) of metamaterial composites containing spherical particles with arbitrary permittivity and permeability.

ISOMER: Informative Segment Observations for Multimedia Event Recounting
This paper describes a system for multimedia event detection and recounting. The goal is to detect a high level event class in unconstrained web videos and generate event oriented summarization for display to users.

Leading the Conversation on the Future of Robotics
Lately it seems that robotics is at the forefront of many conversations—about technology, jobs, startups, education, and more. At SRI, we’re gearing up for National Robotics Week in April and partnering with Xconomy to bring together some of the industry’s foremost thought leaders on April 10 at Robo Madness 2014. And, we’ll be sharing our passion for robotics…

Sol-gel solution-deposited InGaZnO thin film transistors
Thin film transistors fabricated by solution processing of sol-gel oxide semiconductor precursors in the group In-Ga-Zn are described.
